Jammu & Kashmir: Security forces killed six militants and terrorists in South Kashmir. These deaths include Shazaid also known as Shahid who was among Jesh-e-Mahommad’s top 60 terrorists. He was most wanted in Jammu & Kashmir; originally he was a resident of Pakistan.
Two of them are identified as local militants. They both were C categorized terrorists from JeM.
Police were conducting a search operation in Mirham area of Kulgam District; the search was based on information received from reliable sources. When the police arrived on the site, the terrorists started an open fire on the police which led to open fire.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Central Police Force, Army, and Local Police force of Kashmir. Police recovered arms and ammunition from the site after the terrorists were killed. The recovered arms include two AK-47 and M4 rifles. The weapons have been sent for further investigation and an FIR has been filed in Kashmir Police Statio.
In another encounter in Anantnag District, three more militants and terrorists were killed. In this encounter one policeman has been martyred and two other policemen have been injured.
