Chandigarh: On Navjot Singh Sidhu’s call to punish the alleged guilty of sacrilege by “hanging them in public”, Akali DAL (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal replied that “PPCC Cheif Navjot Singh Sidhu do you have the guts to ask punishment for Gandhis for attacking our thousands of Gurughars in 1984”. “Do you have guts to ask punishment for Tytler and Sajjan Kumar?” “If no then you do not have any right to speak on the sacrilege issue.” Badal tweeted the reply with a video clip.
Two individuals have been killed in separate incidents after the alleged attempt of sacrilege in the Golden Temple in Amritsar and another Gurughar in Kapurthala.
After the incident, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu asked for deterrent punishment. He insisted that such acts were in reality a conspiracy to weaken and finish a society. He said, “where sacrilege takes place, be it of Quran Sherif, or Shri Bhagavad Geeta, or Shri Guru Granth Sahib, the guilty should be hanged in public.”
