Barbados: Barbados is the world’s newest republic from December 1, 2021. The Carreban island nation removed Queen Elizabeth from the head of the state. The position is taken over by 72 years old Dane Sandra Prunella Mason selected as the first President of Barbados last month.
At an investiture ceremony on November 30, Barbados bestowed the title of ‘National Hero’ on Rihanna Robyn Fenty, a Grammy-winning singer, and businesswoman. During the ceremony, Prince Charles came upon the stage to give his speech in the silence of the audience.
In 2018, Rihanna was appointed as an official ambassador for culture, youth, tourism, and education. She is the most well-known resident of Barbados.
Rihanna wore a Bottega Veneta rust silk halter neck gown for the occasion, which she masked. With strappy shoes, a golden bracelet, and diamond earrings, she kept her look simple. The halter neck dress featured a free end that the Umbrella singer draped around her neck. Jahleel Weaver, her longtime stylist, styled her.
In the speech, Prime Minister Mia Mottley said, “the imagination of the world through the pursuit of excellence with her creativity, her discipline, and above all else, her extraordinary commitment to the land of her birth”.
“On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even prouder people, we, therefore, present to you the designee for the national hero of Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty. May you continue to shine like a diamond, and bring honor to the nation,” she added.
