CANADA FACES FLOODING AFTER SUMMER HEATWAVES

CANADA: An emergency state has been declared in the western province of  British Columbia after the train links of the province were disturbed in the heavy storm. 

The Strom struck the state on Sunday and it has been raining since then. Officials describe it as once-in-century weather even.

State’s Premier John Horgan described the disaster as a once-in-500-year event during a news conference on Wednesday.

 Newspapers reported him saying “We will bring in travel restrictions and ensure that transportation of essential goods and medical and emergency services are able to reach the communities that need them”.

 He added, “These are very challenging times.” “I’ve been at this dais over the past two years now talking about challenging times we have faced, unprecedented challenges with public health, wildfires, heat domes, and now debilitating floods that we have never seen before.”

 Prime Minister Trudeau pledged assistance for helping citizens during his visit to Washington. Prime Minister assured rebuilding the region. Air evacuation is under process along with help at the disrupted supply chain. 

Thousands of Canadian Armed forces are being deployed to rescue the stranded residents. 

One death caused by a landslide is reported along with two missings. The death toll is expected to rise. Thousands of cattle died and farms are still affected by the flooding. 

Agricultural Minister Popham vowed to help the affected farmers. 

The officials of the region have attributed the crisis to a result of climate change. 

The flooding arises after passing six months of the scorching ‘Heat Waves’ faced by Canada’s westernmost province British Columbia. The ‘Heat Wave; was recorded to be among one of the worts. Hundred of deaths were recorded over the summer.
