Chinese top tennis player Pengshui stated that she has been misunderstood by the media. Pengshui was in the headlines for her alleged accusations of sexual assault on the former Communist Party leader.

After the news recognization to international media, Pengshui was stopped from taking part in Beijing Winter Olympics.

On Sunday, the retraction statement was published by a Singaporean newspaper. Now the concerns are being raised on the well-being of Miss. Pengshui regarding the pressure from Chinese propaganda campaigns.

The controversy started last month. Miss. Pengshui wrote a post on Weibo which is a Chinese social media platform. She wrote that she had been in an on and off years-long relationship with 75-years old Zhang Gaoli. She added that “in and encounter with him, three years ago she had not given consent’ and she was crying all the time”. After that, she was not seen in public for a while that alarmed people of her whereabouts.
