Dug-outs for this year’s IPL has been decided. Out of 590, a total of 204 players were sold out. 67 of these players were overseas players.

Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan was the costliest buy of the year. He was bought by Mumbai Indians for a whooping 15.25Cr. English hard-hitting all-rounder Liam Livingstone was the most expensive overseas player. He was bought by Punjab Kings at 11.50 Cr.

Indian fast bowlers were in high demand. Chennai Super Kings bought Deepak Chahar at 14 Cr. Shardul Thakur was taken by Delhi Capitals for 10.75 Cr. Harshal Patel went to Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the same price. Avesh Khan went to Lucknow supergiants and Prasidh Krishna went to Rajasthan Royals at 10Cr each.

Foreign spinners found it difficult to find bidders. ICC T20 Rank 1 Tabrez Shamsi went unsold. Adam Zampa, Adil Rashid, and Mujeeb Zadran couldn’t attract a bid. Sri Lankan sensation Mahesh Theekshana was bought by CSK for 70 lakhs.

The biggest news which came out of Bangalore was Mr. IPL Suresh Raina going unsold. He was released by CSK in 2021. With more than 5000 runs to his name. He is the most notable name to miss out on this year’s competition. Other big-name former Australia Captain Steve Smith could not attract any bids.

Indian U-19 2022 winners were the stars of this year’s auction. Skipper Yash Dhull went to Delhi Capitals for 50 lakhs. All-rounder Raj Angad Bawa was bought at 2 crores by Punjab Kings. Rajvardhan Hangargekar drew 1.5Cr from CSK.

Day one was marked by a dramatic incident when auctioneer Hugh Edmeades fell from the podium during the bidding for Sri Lankan spinner Hasaranga. He was replaced by Charu Sharma. Mr.Hugh returned on the second day during the final round of auction. He was greeted with a huge round of applause.

Jofra Archer in spite of announcing that he will not be available for the current season had a great day. He was picked by Mumbai Indians at 8Cr.

With no word on when the next mega auction will be held. The team owners went for a broad-based strategy for future planning. A lot of investment was on the players who can pay dividends for the next 5-6 years.

This year IPL will begin without some big names of the cricketing world. Which new star will rise this year will be a question on everyone’s mind.
