Karnataka: On Thursday, Karnataka BJP passes the Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill 2021, referred to as the anti-conversion bill passed in a voice vote. The opposition party was strictly against passing this bill. The bill is passed in State Legislative Assembly, the bill still needs passage through the Legislative Council.
In the stiff opposition of the bill, the Congress Party and Janata Dal protested during the discussion. The bill is passed with less than 6 hours of discussion. Congress asked for more time for discussion on the bill. The chaos was triggered after the statement of “cutting people to pieces if they come in the way of protecting Hindus” given by K.S. Eshwarappa.
The Cheif of BJP Karnataka told the speaker to proceed with the bill as the Dharna ( Protest) was just to stall the session.
Earlier, the opposition leader Siddharmaih accused the bill to be a hidden agenda of RSS.
