An online auction of digital art which was introduced to raise for the founder of WikiLeaks increased too much as 50 million dollars on Wednesday.
Assange is currently under trial with18 criminal charges on him. These charges leads to Assange’s extradition from Britain to the United States of America.
The cases include the breaking of the spying law after he published hundreds of classified and diplomatic files in 2010.
He also collaborated with a crypto artist known as PAK in which they sold the NFTs (non-fungible tokens) called Censored in an auction scheduled from 7 to 9 February to raise the funds for Assange’s case.
The center of attraction of the auction is the artwork on a clock where the number of days are mentioned and a text is written which says Assange has been imprisoned. It is updated each day.
The highest bid was placed by a group called AssangeDAO to bid in a collaboration of all.
The Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) is a collaborated organization that works on the decisions of how to run through tokens.
The organization raised 17,422 cryptocurrency ether which is around 54.6 million dollars. More than 10,000 people contributed in the franchise.
In a Discord post, the leader of Assange DAO Joshua Bate said “In less than one week we have shown that decentralized and distributed peoples can band together to fight injustice.”
The auction closes at 2 pm GMT. There is a condition in which if DAO loses the auction then the people who contributed will have an option to withdraw their funds.
The auction also creates a chance for the investors to create their own NFTs, choosing an amount to pay by typing a short message which will be displayed in words due to the censored auction.
The supports raised more than 587 ether( 1.8 million dollars by creating 27,875 censored messages for the pre freedom organization chosen by Assange and PAK.
