Delhi: From November 27 to 3 December, only CNG and Electrical vehicles will enter Delhi. The decision was announced by the Delhi government on Thursday. It is an attempt to speed up the improving air quality of the territory post-Diwali.
The state is banning the entry of diesel and petrol non-essential transport vehicles for a few days; there is no ban on private vehicles.
“As pollution level in Delhi is reducing leading to an improved Air Quality, this is an attempt to boost up the improvement.
Delhi Environment Minister urged the citizens of Delhi to travel in public transport. In a press briefing, Environment minister Gopal Rai announced – “We have also decided to deploy special CNG buses for major colonies like Timarpur and Gulabi Bagh, among others from where Delhi government workers commute to the office” – reported Economic Times quoting Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai.
reports also suggest that a shuttle bus service will be started from Delhi Secretariate to ITO Inderprastha metro station for the employees.
Confusion was created for a while on the complete ban of diesel and petrol vehicles. Transport Minister clarified the situation via tweet, on Thursday.
The government offices, schools, and private offices will be open from 29 November. Everyone is advised to use public transport, according to the announcement.
Delhi government recently lifted restriction orders from construction work as well. The construction agencies are advised to stick to 14-point guidelines. 585 teams are deployed to keep a check on sites that may curb dust pollution.
Those who will be fined for breaking the regulations will be penalized without notice.
