The seren town of reasi was shaken on Sunday evening, 9th of june when a pilgrim bus from Utter Pradesh was attacked which is suspected to be attack by Lashkal e Taiba. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, leaving behind a trail of devastation and fear. As the town grapples with the aftermath, questions loom large about the safety and security of its residents. Following the tragic terror attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district, which claimed the lives of nine individuals and left 41 others injured, the Jammu and Kashmir Police took swift action. Two days later, they released a sketch of one of the terrorists involved in the ambush, offering a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information leading to his capture.
9 kiled, 40 injured
The ghastly attack resulted in the tragic loss of nine lives, including three women, and left over 40 others wounded. The injured individuals were promptly transferred to various hospitals for medical care. On Monday, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district identified the nine victims of this deadly terrorist assault on a bus carrying pilgrims. Among the deceased are four individuals from Rajasthan, including a two-year-old boy, and three from Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, the driver and conductor of the bus were also among those who lost their lives in the attack. Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Reasi, affirmed that the district administration is facilitating the repatriation of the victims’ bodies to their respective states.
PM’s Condemnation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday, assessed the situation closely. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha revealed that the Prime Minister had instructed him to maintain continuous vigilance over the situation and ensure all possible assistance to the affected families. Union Minister Amit Shah asserted that those responsible for the heinous terror attack on pilgrims in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, will face the full force of the law and not be spared. President Droupadi Murmu also expressed condemnation for the attack, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the terrorist attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. This despicable act is an affront to humanity and deserves unequivocal condemnation. The nation stands in solidarity with the victims’ families. My thoughts are with the injured for their swift recovery.” Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi described the cowardly terrorist attack on the bus transporting pilgrims from Shivkhodi temple in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir as profoundly distressing.
