SC DENIES BAIL FOR SAMAJWADI PARTY LEADER AZAM KHAN FOR WRONG PRACTICES CAMPAIGN OF UP CIVIL POLLS

The apex court of India on February 8, 2022, refused and rejected the plea for an interim bail to Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan for campaigning in the UP assembly polls.

A bench comprising of Justices L Nageswara Rao and B R Gavai, although gave liberty to Azam Khan that he can approach the concerned court for disposal of bail plea.

The court in its statement observed that how can one file as many as 32 petitions to seek bail? The bench further added that it is wrong to add politics in the matter of the court.

Advocate Kapil Sibal who is appearing on the behave of Azam Khan submitted in court that Khan has received bail for 84 cases out of 87 cases that are registered against him.

In his plea, Azam Khan said “I have not done anything wrong and he is in the prison for nothing, and I am not bringing my politics into it”.

Sibal in his statement said the plea of the case is being taken up for the last 3 to 4 months despite repeated requests for a hearing in the highest authority.
