Madhya Pradesh: Religious reader Kalicharan Maharaja has been charged with sedition after getting arrested by Chattisgarh Police on Thursday. He is allegedly accused of making derogatory remarks on Mahatama Gandhi.
He has been charged with evidence on the basis of Section 153 A (1) (A), 153 B (1) (A), 295 A, 505 (1) (B), informed the Chattisgarh Police.
The religious Guru was arrested at 4 a.m. in his accommodation in Bhageshwar Dham, 25 km from Khajurao, Madhya Pradesh.
A case is registered against him in Tirkapara Police station, Raipur. Kalicharan is recorded in the video where he is praising Nathuram Godse on the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and criticizing Mahatma Gandhi in length.
Madhya Pradesh government accused the Congress government of arresting him without any prior notice to Madya Pradesh Police. This is a violation of interstate protocols. Madya Pradesh GDP is entrusted to speak to Chattisgarh GDP on the objection.
The owner of the accommodation where the religious guru was staying is also under the custody of Madhya Pradesh Police.
Kaalicharan Maharaja Belongs to Bhavsagar Community, his date of birth is not known. He is a religious guru of his community and is well known in India. His videos chanting Shlokas and Mantras from Hindu Scriptures are viral. He participated in civil polls in 2017 but did not succeed.
