Qatar: Taliban call out the USA to unfreeze the funds after a two-day talk in the first in-person meeting in Qatar.
The Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mutaqi also urged to stop blacklisting the Taliban. The Taliban foreign minister talked to US representative Tom West. The urge was made on the second day of discussion.
Both representatives discussed economic, health, political rights, educational issues.
The US froze nearly $9.5 billion in assets belonging to the Afghanistan Central Bank reserve. Other than this, The World Bank and the International Monetary fund are withholding $340 million in new reserves.
IMF recently announced USD 650 billion drawing rights allocation for members countries, but Afghanistan would not be able to access it amid the disturbance. IMF spokesperson Gary Rice informed the media that the Afghanistan government is unstable for now, in this situations access to the grant cannot be allowed.
