This comes one day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the repeal of three controversial agricultural laws. The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020 were announced to be repealed by the Prime Minister on Guru Nanak Jayanti on Friday.
Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, paraded to the national capital on November 25 last year, demanding a complete repeal of the legislation as part of a “Dilli Chalo” campaign. In a tweet, TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao commended the chief minister’s decision.
