UNION ISSUES FRESH ORDER TO BAN 54 CHINESE APPS

After banning over 200 apps developed by China, the Indian government is set to issue the banning of 54 more Chinese apps due to posing of security threat.

This information started to assimilate after the union ministry of electronics and information technology received a request from the union ministry of home affairs for blocking the apps under the emergency provision under Section 69(A) of the IT act.

The apps that have been prompted for banning include Beauty Camera, Sweet Selfie HD, Equalizer and Bass Booster, Cam Card, Ashes for Time Lite, Viva Video Editor, Tencent Driver, Onmyoji Chess, App Lock, and Dual Space Lite.

In their statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs shared a report that these apps are either cloning or interfering with personal privacy.  

The ministry said that the 54 apps are used to obtain various permissions and collect user data. “These collected real-time data is being misused which is reaching to servers set up in the hostile country. This will help those countries in collecting and analyzing the information to create problems in the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.”

The ministry added that there are other serious concerns of the specified apps by getting fine locations through GPS to perform the surveillance activity.

The act of banning is guessed to be due to the tensions between India and China affecting the business dealing aspect of the nations.
