The US Department of Health and Human Services has issued a “Level One” COVID-19 warning for Americans travelling to India, stating that the chance of catching the disease and having severe symptoms is reduced if one is completely vaccinated.

The new travel advisory issued on Monday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of “Level One” which is considered safe came in the wake of the significant improvement in the Covid-19 situation in India.

The CDC in its health travel notice “Level One” said, “Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) authorized vaccine.”

Before going to India, make sure you are completely immunized. The health advisory advised travelers to follow suggestions or rules in India, such as wearing a mask and staying 6 feet apart from people.

On Monday, India saw the lowest number of daily COVID-19 cases in 287 days. According to data published on Tuesday by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 8,865 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,44,56,401, with active cases at 1,30,793, the lowest in 525 days.

In August, the US downgraded its travel warning for India to Level 2: Moderate.

Early this year, the United States placed India on Level 4, advising its people not to visit the country, which was experiencing an unprecedented second wave of COVID-19 at the time.
