Tuesday: Following in the footsteps of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea has increased the cost of its mobile services, according to an official statement released.
All prepaid consumers will be affected by the new tariff plans, which will take effect on November 25.
“The new plans will start the process of ARPU improvement and help address the financial stress faced by the industry,” it said.
The move comes only days after Airtel raised its pre-paid prices by nearly 25%.
This announcement came on Tuesday that prepaid consumers will see a hike in mobile call and internet charges of 18-25 percent from November 25. The decision occurred a day after rival Bharti Airtel made a similar one. Vodafone Idea upped the minimum recharge amount from 79Rs. to 99Rs. for a period of 28 days, up from 79Rs. previously. Reliance Jio, the market leader, has yet to announce a change in mobile pricing, though analysts and the rest of the business expect it to happen shortly. Despite consistently losing consumers, Vodafone Idea has increased its tariffs.
The business began revising tariffs in the July-September 2021 quarter, but it has now made a significant correction, with Bharti Airtel taking the lead. In the popular unlimited-calling category, Vodafone Idea increased costs by 20-23 percent.
