WhatsApp announced that it will not immediately restrict the functions of the application for users for not accepting the privacy policy.

The Meta-owned platform has filed a lawsuit in Delhi High Court against the Indian Government over chat traceability that the Indian Government deems essential to control fake news.

“Given recent discussions with various authorities and privacy experts, we want to make clear that we currently have no plans to limit the functionality of how the app works for those who have not yet accepted the update,” said a spokesperson from Whatsapp. “Instead, we will continue to remind users from time to time about the update as well as when people choose to use relevant optional features, like communicating with a business that is receiving support from Facebook” the spokesperson added.

WhatsApp officially launched its privacy policy Globally and In India with over 487 million users in India. The users will not be immediately barred from the functions of the app but will be eventually after due course of time.
