WINTER SESSION WRAPS UP A DAY AHEAD OF THE SCHEDULE

New Delhi: The winter session wrapped up on Wednesday, which is a day ahead of the schedule. Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu expressed his disappointment on the low productivity of the upper house. Lok Sabha was also adjourned as the opposition is continuing the protest against the suspension of MPs. The government says that the important discussions are completed which is why an early wrap-up.

The winter session was scheduled with 18 sittings. The session discusses important bills like farm laws retraction bill, Election law amendment bill, legal marriage age amendments. In total, 13 bills ae passed during the session by both houses out of which 1 bill was passed in Rajya Sabha. 21 bills are tables or postponed for the next session.

At the starting of the session, 12 MPs were suspended for the session due to their misbehavior in the monsoon session.

According to the PRS legislative research website, the productivity of Lok Sabha was 77% and that of the Rajya Sabha was 43%. The lower house or Lok Sabha functioned for 83.3 hours while the Upper house or Rajya Sabha functioned for 45.6 hours in the session
